Kholi The Run Machine

A bit of credit also needs to be given to Sachin Tendulkar for the success Virat Kohli is enjoying at the moment. Kohli, returning from a horrendous tour of England, where he averaged only 13.40, consulted Tendulkar and spent 10 days with him in Mumbai discussing his batting.
Tendulkar made few changes and the suggestions did wonders with things falling in place for Kohli. After that there has been no stopping him and presently he's batting like a dream. (Don't want to be complacent, don't want to be desperate: Virat Kohli)
"I came back and went to Bombay for 10 days. I spoke to him. He spent time with me. He said he had watched me in England and he helped me with a few technical things that are important at this level in terms of getting a good stride in, always having intent when playing the ball and never being unsure of what to do at the crease.
"I never had a forward press but he told me you should go forward to a fast bowler like you would defend a spinner. Do it with the same conviction is the only way you can be in a good position to tackle, swing seam or anything you want.
"We ended up speaking a lot during that phase. Those things worked out for me. Then I spoke to him about preparation. I said in Test cricket I see a lot of guys batting in the nets, they want to hit 200-300 balls before the game. I feel I am ready and tend to overdo things because I am so desperate to do well so go away from my routine. (Virat Kohli and Joe Root after 50 Tests: Who has the better stats?)
"He told me the importance of mentally staying relaxed. If you do not feel like hitting the ball, don't hit it. Do not look at other people having a great net session for long hours, go off, try and do the same thing and come out frustrated. That helped me a lot," Kohli said in an interview with The Telegraph.
The next series for India was in Australia and Kohli made amends and England misery became a thing of the past. He slammed four centuries and there was no looking back. It was in this series Mahendra Singh Dhoni retired from Tests and Kohli becoming the captain in the longer format. However, the pressure of captaincy hasn't bogged him down or affected his batting, rather he is enjoying leading a young Indian side.
After taking over the captaincy, Kohli has scored a hundred in every other series except the home series against South Africa last year. In the ongoing series against England, Kohli slammed a century in Vizag and could score more with three more Tests remaining. In Tests, starting from the Australia series in December 2014 to till date - Kohli has scored six centuries and two double hundreds.
In the ODIs also there has been no stopping Kohli, having scored five centuries between the period of January 2015 to February 2016. The centuries and records doesn't stop at international cricket, Kohli too had a blazing IPL earlier this year by slamming 973 runs, which included four hundreds, seven fifties at an average of 81.08. (Cricket chose me, it's the only game I played: Virat Kohli )
Kohli's average in 2016 is 69.00 and scored 897 runs from 9 Tests. After 50 Tests, Kohli has 3891 runs with 14 centuries and 13 half-centuries at an average of 48.03.
